Phenelzine (Nardil) Tranylcypromine (Parnate) St. John's Wort Selegiline (Eldepryl) Procarbazine (Matulane) |
If you eat tyramine while taking these medications, you may have a severe
headache, high blood pressure, or a stroke. The following foods contain a
large amount of tyramine and should be avoided: |
| Fever Few | May act to antagonize serotonin and negatively affect depression. |
|
St. John's Wort |
May affect depression in patients taking fluoxetine (Prozac), Paroxetine (Paxil) and Setraline (Zoloft) or in patients whose depression is being treated with a tricyclic antidepressant (amitiptylline, imipramine, or desimpramine). |
| Glucosamine |
The elimination of glucosamine may be inhibited in patients who are taking fluoxetine (Prozac). |
| Vitamine C | May cause the elimination of TCA's to be increased and require higher doses of the TCA to treat depression. |
